A Safe Place – our new appeal

10 October 2023
A blog by our CEO Lorraine McGrath to launch our A Safe Place appeal

Dear all

Our vision is that everyone deserves a safe place to live and access to the support they need.

Today, 10th October, is World Homeless Day and also World Mental Health Day, we launch our new fundraising appeal entitled A Safe Place.

Today, like every day of the year, we will be supporting hundreds of people experiencing homelessness across our services in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Perth.

We will be providing this support in safe places; our hubs, our Streetreads library, our emergency and supported accommodation services, our outreach services and our own SCS Homes.

And today we will be one day closer to opening a new safe place – our Connect Hub in Glasgow, a  special safe place for women experiencing homelessness.

We are experiencing another huge surge in demand for our support, our expertise and our safe places.

The number of people seeking a safe place and support is increasing at a rate we have never seen before. At Simon Community Scotland we are doing all we can to help people experiencing homelessness with a safe place to access support, a safe place to connect, to build trust and relationships.

Funds raised from our A Safe Place appeal will help us ensure people are as safe as possible – through basic life essentials like warm clothes and food, to ensuring we meet the need for our support in our safe places.

Every donation will help us keep people experiencing homelessness as safe as possible.

Please visit and share our appeal page https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/asafeplace

Please, support us if you can. Find out if your workplace is making a donation this winter. Could your club  or children’s school fundraise for us and link to our campaign?

And please share our A Safe Place messages that are going out on our social media channels across your own networks if you can.

Thank you so much for your support that allows us to keep people as safe and supported as possible.

Very best wishes

Lorraine McGrath
