People are at the heart of who we are and what we do. Day-by-day, person-to-person, we tailor what we offer to what people need. We’re here to provide consistent, friendly and informed support so that people can explore options and take ‘the next step’ towards a positive future.

We want staff who can see past the challenges and see the strengths and capabilities people have. We welcome people with a wide range of skills and experiences to our team – including those who have lived through homelessness.

What it’s like to work for the Simon Community

Every day is different. We have a range of different roles across our team – each person is helping to end homelessness. #OneTeam

Quotes from our staff about working at Simon Community Scotland.

Supporting people and supporting the frontline

Most of our staff team are involved in directly supporting people day-to-day. They provide essential support to those who are sleeping rough or in temporary accommodation, as well as people recovering from homelessness. We also have a range of initiatives designed to make things better for people we support – and we’re always on the hunt for new ideas to try. To do this work, we have staff who provide essential support for our frontline work. They help to manage our finances and keep our systems running smoothly so that we can connect easily with each other and keep doing what is most needed.

Our motto is: Make it easy. Make it right. Make it happen.

Being human. Making a difference.

We are all people first. These are some of the things that are part of working as part of our team.

Our values are not just words on the website! They exist in how we treat each other, those we support and the partners we work with. We know we don’t always get it right. Reflecting on our actions and learning to do better is part of the work.

Staff learning together

We must always be investing in our own learning and development – as individuals and an organisation. That’s how we grow, stay healthy and thrive. It’s also how we can be creative, innovative and offer the best possible service alongside people we’re here to support.

Be part of our team – #OneTeam

We want to make it easy, make it right, and make it happen – not only for the people we support, but also for each other. Humour and self-care are essential to the work. To make a difference we need to work flexibly, with everyday-leadership and a ‘can do’ spirit.

Our #OneTeam ethos is core to who we are, and it means caring for and supporting each other regardless of our role, service or location. This is how we roll. We want people who share these values to join us and become a part of the Simon Community Scotland family.
