What Products are Available at the the Period Friendly Point?

All Period Friendly Points have free tampons, sanitary towels, spare pants, wipes and disposable bags. There are also leaflets with advice and how to access more support.

Where Can I Find a Period Friendly Point?

There are currently Period Friendly Points in Glasgow and Edinburgh with plans to expand to other cities across Scotland.

Why is Simon Community Scotland launching this initiative?

One of the biggest challenges women who are homeless face is their period. They cannot afford sanitary products and don’t have access to facilities to keep themselves clean. We want to give women a ‘period of dignity’ by providing products and a safe, clean environment to take care of themselves. Read more here…

Simon Community Scotland (SCS) introduced the Period Friendly Project in 2017 supported by volunteers across Glasgow, surrounding areas and Edinburgh. Provision of PFPs addresses the issue of period poverty affecting many women in Scotland. Period poverty contributes to the poor mental health and wellbeing experience of many women who are excluded from the basic essential of sanitary and hygiene products. SCS aim is to increase the number of PFP across Scotland in order to combat period poverty.
