60 Miles - Walk, Jog or Run

For 60 years, Simon Community Scotland has been delivering safe places, support, and hope to people experiencing homelessness. This year marks our 60th anniversary, however this is not a cause for celebration. The need for experience and expertise is greater than ever.

This is why we are launching our first ever virtual challenge and we need you to join us.

We are challenging our incredible supporters to run, jog, or walk 60 miles in 60-days - between 10th October (World Homeless Day) and 10th December. How you complete the miles is entirely up to you. You can do a couple of miles a day, a longer walk at the weekend, or smash it out in a few weeks. Like our support, we want our challenge to be inclusive and tailored to suit you. You could also wheel, cycle, skate or swim. You can choose.

All ages and all fitness levels are welcome. Sign up as an individual, as a family, a group of friends or as a workplace.

Why your steps matter this winter

Simon Community Scotland provides support to hundreds of people every single day and night. We do this through our Street Teams, our Hubs, on our helplines, in our Streetreads Library, emergency and supported accommodation services, through our outreach support and our SCS Homes.

Every mile you complete and every pound your raise will help us provide safe places, support and hope to people affected by homelessness.

The Details

  • What: 60-miles in 60-days. Walk, jog, run, wheel, cycle, skate or swim - you choose.
  • When: 10th October to 10th December (complete it at your own pace).

  • Where: Anywhere! It’s completely virtual.

  • Cost: FREE to register.

  • The Reward: You’ll get a free Simon Community t-shirt to wear with pride.

  • Fundraising Target: Every pound counts. We would suggest setting a target of £200, but encourage people to simply raise as much as possible. There will be cold and wet days - you'll be earning every sponsor!

  • Our tips: Set up a Just Giving page and share the link with your networks. Take photos/videos when you are out (or in if on a treadmill!) completing your challenge and post on your social channels.
