About us

Simon Community Scotland is the largest provider of homelessness services in Scotland.

We are a homelessness charity, but more importantly we’re a team of people dedicated to meeting other people exactly where they are.

This means that whether someone is already homeless, facing potential homelessness or recovering from the harms of homelessness, we’re here to help. We want everyone to feel safe in the place where they live.

We’re here to provide consistent, friendly and informed support so people can explore options and take the next steps towards a happier, safer future.

Our vision and values

We want everyone to have a safe place to live and access to the support they need. We work with and alongside people to help combat the causes and devastating effects of homelessness.

Our values are built into every area of activity and tell the story of how people remain at the heart of the Simon Community.

We support adults and young people who are experiencing homelessness, or are at risk of homelessness, by providing them with whatever they need - a place to live, support to retain their home or support with day-to-day life.

We’re here to provide consistent, friendly and informed support so people can explore options and take the next steps towards a happier, safer future.

We’re passionate about changing expectations and experiences of people we support, many of whom have experienced significant trauma, exclusion and stigma. Every day we co-create positive solutions with and alongside people who are dealing with extremely difficult circumstances.

It's about people

Our people are at the centre of everything that we do.

Everything we do is about and for people: the people we support, our team, our partners and everyone affected by homelessness. We have worked hard to ensure that our approach is always people-centred and that means an individual approach to each person that we support.

Everyone we meet has incredible strengths, creativity and skills that help them survive the tough realities. We listen and build relationships so that people feel safe enough to share their stories, their dreams and what matters most to them.

We’re not here to tell people how to live their lives or tell people what to do. We are not the experts in anyone else's life. We’re here to build positive, supportive relationships and offer support that helps people get where they want to go. We want everyone to have a safe, comfortable life where they feel well and feel good.

To make this happen we need to connect well with people, challenge stigma, tackle the root causes of homelessness and make sure there is meaningful support to address its harms.

Our team is fully trained including in trauma-informed approaches. Some of our staff have experienced homelessness and their first-hand experience guides our approach and helps us improve. We pay attention to our environments – we want them to be places of safety, creativity and connection.

People we support know what a good, and not so good service and support looks like. We want to make them proud.

Get involved

We can’t do this alone. Everyone can get involved. We need the support of partners, funders and champions. We are Simon Community Scotland and together we make positive change happen.
