Preventing Migrant Homelessness
Preventing Migrant Homelessness
We provide safe, dignified accommodation and trauma-informed support.
We are here to support ALL people experiencing, or at risk of homelessness
The number of people in Scotland experiencing homelessness and destitution but denied essential support because of their immigration status, is rapidly increasing.
At Simon Community Scotland we see the unnecessary harm this causes. To help, we have resources and teams dedicated and trained to ensure insecure immigration status does not result in rough sleeping.

Trauma informed support
With IAA (Immigration Advice Authority) accredited advisors in each of our Edinburgh and Glasgow hubs; dignified accommodation in both cities; and experienced support workers many of whom have been through the process themselves, we offer trauma informed support to vulnerable EU and EEA nationals who need to resolve their status in the UK post-Brexit, and asylum seekers who are not currently able to access support from the Home Office.
Specialist outreach support
We reach around 1000 people each year and as a lead delivery partner for Fair Way Scotland are at the frontline of preventing destitution in Scotland.
Increasingly new refugees are also at risk of homelessness and all our Hub and Street team members have the knowledge and skills to support New Scots to be safe in Scotland. Our Saffron team provides specialist outreach support to care-experienced young people learning to manage their own flat for the first time after arriving in the UK with no family.
